Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
The Boys Scout organization in America is facing bankruptcy!
Until February 2020, more than 12,000 cases of sexual abuse allegedly committed by Scouts leaders have surfaced. The organization has no choice but to file a bankruptcy proceeding for protection as potential claim for damages by the victims can amount to hundreds of million US Dollars!
The Apostle Paul in his letter to the Corinthian Christians in his time, warned against compromise in sexual sins. He described sexual sins (and sins in general, actually) have the characteristics of yeast. If allowed to remain, will extends its effects and bring destruction and pain. Paul described the sexual sins tolerated by the Corinthian Christians were even appalling to the non-believers. Whatever justification we might come up for such compromises, Paul stressed the severity of such neglect, and said that the flesh must “die”, in order the spirit might be saved.
Whatever compromises of sin that we might have committed, even for the best
reasons, will not spare us from extensive defilement and causing hurts to many innocent people. The unnatural sexual desire and ungodly sexual preference man makes, if not surrendered to the Lord and repented of, can destroy many souls. It can lead to deep damage to the next generation. It opens the door for the devil to hold the next generations, even a whole civilization in bondage. The battle against these complex compromises is both the responsibility of the individual and the corporate Church. The individual needs to agree with God’s words and repent. The Church needs to admonish in love, minister healing and deliverance, and bring those held in bondage, including the victims, into prayers and spiritual warfare. The abused if not healed, will themselves become abusers.
Let us begin to address any compromise of sin. Let us get rid of the yeast!
