God’s Heart for Christmas

Galatians 4:1-7          Luke 1:46-56

1. Christmas Joy:

• Luke 1:46-47 – ⁴⁶And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord ⁴⁷and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
• Galatians 4:1 – ¹ What I am saying is that as long as an heir is underage, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate.

2. Christmas in God’s heart:

• His timing – Galatians 4:4a

^4(a)But when the set time had fully come,

• His method – Galatians 4:4b

^4(b)God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

• His purpose – Galatians 4:5

⁵to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship

• His extra gift – Galatians 4:6

⁶Because you are his sons, God sont the Spirit of his Son into our heads, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”

3. Merry Christmas – Our highest value (Luke 1:48)

⁴⁸for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed,
