God’s plan for blessings through family
- God wants to bless us through family (Psalm 112:1-3)
- Parents are God’s authorized agents to instruct and teach children to walk in godly ways (Genesis 18:18-19, Proverbs 6:20-22)
- Spiritual inheritance of blessings to pass through the generational line (Psalm 103;17-18; Numbers 14:24)
-
Demonic Stronghold can be established through unwilling participation in sin through lack of godly covering or knowledge
- Through sins of our forefathers – e.g. the sin of Adam
- Unconfessed sins of our forefathers would result in generational iniquity and generational curses in the same way that righteousness of our forefathers result in generational blessings (Exodus 20:5-6; 34:6-7)
- Iniquity = the propensity to sin
-
Generational Iniquities
- God is holy and will not share His glory with any other. Iniquities rooted in disobedience and revolt against the Lordship of Jesus in any sphere of life (Exodus 20:5; Isaiah 48:11)
- Leviticus 26:39-45
- Generational Iniquities attract generational curses by giving the devil a legal right to the life of the offender and his descendents
-
The effect of sin in the family line
- God’s warning against sin which has far reaching effect on future generations (Exodus 20:5-7)
- Particular types of sin bring particular curses, e.g. sexual sin (Deuteronomy 23:2-3)
- Iniquity brings disorder to the family line (Lamentation 5:7-16)
- Biblical example of generational iniquities – Abraham and Isaac has committed the sin of abuse by failing to protect their wives (Genesis 12:12-13; 26:7)
-
Healing the family is made possible on the Cross of Jesus
- Galatians 3:13-14; Jeremiah 31:29-30
- Generational iniquity though it brings pressure, does not excuse our own sin
- We can appropriate the atoning work of the Cross
- Identifying ourselves with our forefathers’ sins, confess and repent of our own sins
- Plead the Blood of Jesus for forgiveness and cleansing
- Evict the demonics and close the door by choosing to walk in freedom
