Weekly Message: Rejection of the “rejector”

“I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you;” Genesis 12:3

Down the history of human civilization, from Pharaoh to Hitler, whether individuals or governments, we observe that there are those who reject God by rejecting what are His – His words, His people, His Kingdom, His Son, His values, etc. It always puzzles me why people would find God of the Bible and His ways so repulsive, so much so they would reject this loving, merciful and gracious God. The only reason I could think of is due to sin. At the Fall, man chose his own way instead of following the way of God. The Bible describes this declaration of self rule over one’s life as sin – I call it “primal sin”. Apparently this primal sin has been inherent in all the “sons of Adam”.

There is a natural pull in each one of us to go against God and what is of God. Even Jesus, the Son of God was not spared. It is important to note that all those (either individual, community or government) who reject God and what is of God, invites the ultimate rejection, rejected by God. Left outside of His blessings and come under the curse of sin. This curse of sin expose mankind to demonic domination and torment, unbearable.

The way of escape from this rule of the devil has been made possible and available to us. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:” (John 1:12). If we acknowledge Jesus as the Lord and Master of our lives, willingly submitting to His way and His words, we are on track to restoration and healing.

Remember, we are not so paralyzed by this pull of the primal sin that we are incapable to choose Jesus. As rejection of God and what is His began with a choice, the way to freedom and healing from the consequences of sin also begin with a choice – choosing Jesus!
